The MVME5500 CPU board is equipped with an MPC7457 processor with a clock speed of 1 GHz. The MPC7457 CPU features 1 MB of L2 and 2 MB of L3 cache, as well as AltiVec™ vector processor capabilities for the Atson G4 processor architecture. The MVME5500 offers 512 or 1024MB ECC SDRAM (133 MHz FSB) and offers 10/100/1000BastTX Gigabit Ethernet as well as 10/100BaseTX fast Ethernet interfaces. 40 MB flash memory is available for applications and operating systems.
The card provides slots for two 64-bit /66 MHz PMC modules. By using the PMC module IPMC761 or IPMC712, the MVME5500 receives an I/O pin on the P2 connector that is compatible with the MVME2600, MVME2700, and MVME5100. It can be combined with the MVME761 or MVME712M conversion module. The IPMC module provides 1 UW-SCSI, 1 parallel port, and 4 serial ports.
With PMCspan extended carrier, up to four additional 64-bit PMC slots can be expanded.
