The design of GPIB controller mainly includes 3 modules: Interface function module, multi-line message decoder and data channel module. The interface function module of communication with GPIB bus in GPIB system defines an interaction between device and GPIB bus as an interface function, which is a group of logic function in essence, and realizes IEEE488 communication protocol. The function module is the focus of this design, and there are some requirements on the selection of the function subset of the interface, mainly to achieve the sub-interface functions, namely: the Source Hook Sh, speaker T, listener L, service request SRQ and remote control of the local control RL, etc. . The function of each interface module is realized by synchronous Moore State Machine, which is only related to the current signal and independent of the input signal. On the basis of the function realization of each sub-interface module, the top-level state machine is designed, that is, each sub-module is called, and the interactive design is carried out with schematic diagram, and the state machine is described with VHDL language, the logical functionality of the implementation is shown in figure 2. The input signals are: GPIB bus signal (ATN, Dav, IFC, Ren, NDAC, NRFD, EOI, SRQ) , multi-line message (MTA, MTA, MTA, Ota, Llo, GTL, GET, DCL, SDC, UNL, SPD, SPE) , internal and local messages generated by auxiliary registers (swrst, Lon, RSV, ton) , and so on. The input signals are generated by the decoding circuit, and the output signals control the interface functions.
